Winners at the St Moritz Automobile Week!

We are thrilled to have picked up a victory at the St. Moritz Automobile Week's first event!

Our client's 1958 Lotus Eleven, fully restored and race-prepared by ADP Classic Racing, picked up First Place in the "Driven by Design" award at the St. Moritz Automobile Week.

Judged by a panel of top designers …

  • Tony Hatter of Porsche fame

  • Prof. James Kelly from the Design University in Pforzheim

  • Britta Pukall president of the Raymond Loewy Foundation and a member of the St. Moritz Design Summit

  • Grant Larson highly regarded Porsche designer

  • Edgar Heinrich, BMW Motorrad

With cars and motorbikes evaluated at full acceleration as they scream down the Samedan Airport runway the Lotus Eleven beat a field of over 100 participants at top speed at the Kilomètre Lancé, the first event of the St Moritz Automobile Week.

A brilliant result for an experienced and recently restored heritage race car, a great feeling for its owner/driver and a very proud moment for us as enthusiasts and engineers!.

Lotus Eleven sourcing and restoration

We have worked with our client over many years preparing and supporting on such events as the Mille Miglia and Targa Floria.

Asked to source a Lotus Eleven we found several examples across Europe until we came across the current car, chassis no 313. A car with a strong story having been raced consistently since it was built in the 50s and the last Lotus Eleven body that Len Pritchard, of Williams and Pritchard, made.

A car with a great heritage and great body, our client asked us to restore the car. We carried out a complete restoration including in-depth chassis work, new aluminium sill and closing panels fabricated by hand in-house, and engine and gearbox rebuild to present the car in original condition and perfect running order ready for the track.

Keep an eye out for a feature on this car in Octane Magazine this autumn.
